Massage Therapy Services

  • Therapeutic Massage

Massage therapy is a safe and effective choice for health maintenance, injury prevention, and rehabilitative options. Our Registered Massage Therapists will enhance your well being by providing professional therapy and support towards achieving your health-care goals.

  • Deep Tissue Massage

This therapeutic and corrective style of massage focuses on the deeper layers of muscle tissue. Deep tissue massage helps to strengthen, relax, and release the natural restriction of the different connective tissues of the body. The focus is the long-term goal of altering the muscles’ structures and limitations.

  • Lymph Drainage Therapy (LDT)

A gentle technique that works through the body’s lymphatic system. Massage therapists work with flat hands, using all the fingers to simulate gentle, specific wave-like movements. These subtle manual maneuvers activate lymph and interstitial fluid circulation as well as stimulate the functioning of the immune and parasympathetic nervous systems. The result of these actions can include reductions in edemas, detoxification of the body, regeneration of tissue, and other benefits.

  • Muscle Energy Technique (MET)

Muscle Energy Technique is a gentle, non-invasive and very effective form of neuromuscular therapy. It relieves pain as it restores full range of motion to spinal and pelvic joints, restricted due to injury, poor postural habits, and/or muscle imbalance. The therapist uses the natural reflexes within the muscle itself to release spasm and excessive tension and allow the joint to move freely. The results are immediate, long lasting, and verifiable through reassessment.

  • Sports Massage

Designed to treat uncomfortable areas that are the result of muscle tension and stiffness. Trigger points and deep massage techniques bring release and relief to those seeking more of a remedial type of massage.

  • Hot Stone Massage

Hot stones are placed on energy points along the body while the RMT massages the body with other stones in a rhythmic sequence. This is a deeply relaxing massage and benefits the body’s natural healing mechanisms.

  • Cupping Massage

Massage cupping is a simplified version of cupping used in traditional Chinese medicine. Cupping is a manual technique for breaking up localized congestion and increasing circulation. Suction cups rapidly facilitate rigid soft tissue release, loosens and lifts connective tissue, breaks up and drains stagnation while increasing blood and lymph flow to skin and muscles. Cupping uses negative pressure rather than tissue compression.

  • Myofascial Release (MFR)

Myofascial release is a unique, whole body approach to manual therapy, which focuses on the entire connective tissue (fascial) system. Although very gentle and non-invasive, it can successfully treat long standing chronic pain, postural problems, and movement restrictions or discomfort that resist conventional treatments. The therapist works with the client’s fascia to find and release the specific areas that are the causes of problems and allow the body to restore itself to a healthy state.

  • Craniosacral Therapy (CST)

This profoundly effective, gentle and relaxing technique (a close relative to myofascial release) focuses primarily on the deepest connective tissue membranes of the cranium and spinal column. It is particularly recommended for injuries to the head, spine and tailbone, chronic neck and back pain, TMJ, migraines, sinusitis, memory problems, chronic fatigue, and fibromyalgia.

  • Auricular Acupuncture

Acupuncture points on the ear correspond with areas of the body. By stimulating these points, the body’s own regulatory systems are brought to a place of more efficient balance. Acupuncture addresses a wide range of conditions including chronic pain, migraines, insomnia, and addictive behaviours. This approach is simple, free from side effects, and effective.

  • Asian Massage

Combines the techniques of Japanese style Shiatsu with Thai Yoga Massage to provide a powerful therapeutic experience. Each treatment involves stretching, leverage, various massage techniques with the application of thumb and palm pressure to specific points on the body. The focus in Asian massage is to remove blockages in the flow of the body’s energy or Chi. This in turn activates an innate self healing process, heightening a sense of well being in body, mind and spirit. Traditionally, recipients are treated clothed, reclining on a futon.

  • Myo-Rhythmic Release (MRR)

This innovative approach to soft tissue treatment is renowned for patient-therapist comfort, efficiency and effectiveness. It combines rhythmical mobilization, passive range of motion, trigger point therapy, and stretching. MRR blends anatomy, kinesiology and biomechanics. It allows deep tissue release, prevents tissue damage and discomfort, and teaches the client to associate decreased tension and pain with healthy and natural movement patterns.

  • Strain-Counterstrain (S/CS)

Also known as positional release, this simple and painless technique is perfect for acute injuries such a recent whiplash, nerve impingement, herniated discs, and chronic conditions of tight and spasm muscles that resist direct-pressure release. Patients are placed in positions that removes all tension from the problematic muscle and holds this for 90 seconds, then gently lengthens the muscle for a long lasting and profound correction.
