    Dr David Smith received his degree in podiatry from Huddersfield University in Yorkshire, England and has been practicing for more than ten years. After university, Dr Smith worked as a locum consultant for Dr. Scholl’s throughout the UK, and owned and operated his own clinic in Stavanger, Norway before settling in Nova Scotia in 2008.

    Dr. Smith's practice now covers clinics across the North and South Shores, with regular, weekly hours at emOcean.

  • Assessments

    Dr Smith offers the following assessments: annual foot check-ups, diabetic foot care, lower limb neurological, lower limb musculoskeletal, lower limb vascular, bio-mechanical, and gait.

  • Orthotic Therapy

    Orthotic therapy improves foot function, making standing and walking easier and reduces the fatigue that contributes to foot pain. Athletes also use orthotics to prevent or manage sports-related injuries to the lower limbs and feet.

  • General Foot Care

    General foot care includes: nail clipping, callus reduction, corn removal, plantar wart treatment, fungus on skin and nails.

  • In-grown Nail Treatment

    In-office surgery with local anaesthetic (freezing).

  • Sports Injuries

    When one works to stay physically fit, a variety of injuries can be incurred through training and/or competition. Proper lower limb and foot care helps stave off injury or to recover more completely after an injury. Dr Smith also offers guidance so as to reduce the chances of future or repeated injury.

  • Laser Therapy

    Laser therapy can also help with many foot and lower limb conditions, such as plantar fasciitis, tendonitis, plantar warts, osteoarthritis, repetitive stress injuries, and others.
